Kilsə bu məsələlərin yalnız daxili qaydalarla həll olunduğunu vurğulayıb. Baş nazir Nikol Paşinyan isə bildirib ki, əgər II Qaregin subaylıq andını pozubsa, katolikos kimi fəaliyyət göstərə bilməz. Buna baxmayaraq, kilsə və katolikos bu açıqlamaya cavab verməyib.
Siyasi şərhçi bildirib ki, bu, həm Paşinyanın daxili hakimiyyətini möhkəmləndirmək, həm də Ermənistanın xarici siyasətini daha müstəqil aparmaq niyyəti ilə bağlıdır.
